Azarov Pyotr Lukyanovich
He was born on August 14, 1922, in the village of Zinovo, now in the Ugransky District of the Smolensk Region, in the family of a peasant. In 1930, he moved with his family to Moscow. He graduated from a vocational school and an aeroclub. He worked as a mechanic at a factory. He graduated from the Engels Military Aviation School of Pilots in 1942. He joined the front in November 1942.
He served in the Air Force.
Senior pilot of the 134th Guards Bomber Taganrog Red Banner Order of Alexander Nevsky Aviation Regiment (6th Guards Bomber Aviation Division, 1st Air Army, 3rd Belorussian Front), Guards Lieutenant.
Awarded the Order of Lenin, two Orders of the Red Banner, and medals.
A monument has been erected at his grave. P.L. Azarov's name is immortalized in a memorial at one of the garrisons.
For exemplary performance of command tasks and courage and heroism in battles against the German fascist invaders, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.
