THE HISTORY OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR
The Second World War was the largest and bloodiest armed conflict in human history, lasting from 1939 to 1945. It involved most of the world's nations, divided into two opposing camps: the Axis (Germany, Italy, Japan, and others) and the Allies (the Soviet Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, and others).
The war was caused by the political, economic, and social crises that emerged after World War I, the rise of nationalism, the aggressive policies of certain countries, and the failure of the 1919 Treaty of Versailles.
